- use FAMOUS examples.
This is VERY important. Nobody cares about what happened in biology class to your friend, or your father, or whatever. Talk about the Chief Justice, Marie Antoinette, Chernobyl famous people/events. Historical or current affairs are both fine. Doesnt matter if youre sketchy on details. A MIT study has shown that sketchy or even wrong details on King Arthur II is preferable to accurate details about your neighbour Amelia.
- Try to use a literary example, again from a famous book.
Jane Eyre, Lolita, Gregor Samsa, or someone from a classical movie your essay will probably be marked by some greying fifty-year-old, so you probably dont want to talk about High School Musical over Casablanca if you can help it. If you cant think of one then pick another famous figure/event.
- Last paragraph feel free to use whatever.
I would still advise against personal examples and instead shoot for the trinity of history + current affairs + literary, but if you really cannot then a personal example here goes.
- Keep an eye on the time, always write a conclusion that ends in a period, not mid-sentence because you ran out of time.
- Spelling and grammar.
- Dont skip lines; indent two fingers at the start of each paragraph. You dont have unlimited paper.
- Use cursive.
Not only is it FASTER, but it is also useful for concealing that you cannot spell a certain word. For example, if you are trying to write paracetamol and cant remember what goes after the t, spell out the first five or six letters and then devolve into a bunch of squiggles ending off with a l. This is far more likely to work in cursive than in block.
- Write fast.
