SAT填空題答題詞匯準確理解很重要

　　在準備SAT填空題的過程中，筆者建議考生最好準備一本Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary，即通常所說的《韋氏大學詞典》，因為這是ETS官方指定的考試用詞典，SAT考試中所有的詞語釋義全部來源于該詞典。甚至，有一些題目就是將《韋氏大學詞典》中某個詞匯的釋義稍加修改而成的。

　　例：Like martinet, Norman ______ his subordinates to ______

　　rigidly to the rules.

　　 disciplinedadapt constrainedadhere coaxedrefer

　　 accustomedobject coerceddemur

　　此例中，如果考生能對martinet這個詞有準確理解的話，答案會很迅速被選出。在《韋氏大學詞典》中，martinet的解釋為：

　　a strict disciplinarian;

　　a person who stressed a rigid adherence to the details of forms and methods.

　　很顯然，選項所表達的意思正好符合martinet在詞典中的解釋，故為正確答案。
