W: We have two weeks holiday in March, July and October and a five-week holiday during our summer.

M: Do you want to go to university when you finish school?

M: What places have you been to in China?

W: Ive been in Beijing now for four days, and yesterday I went to the Great Wall. I also saw the Ming Temples. Tomorrow Im going to see the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heavens.

W: John, do you realize that Christmas is only a month away? Weve got to think about Christmas gifts.

M: Yes, and what a lot of relatives we have to think about!

W: Shall we decide what to send them all over?

M: All right. Lets make a list of names and then decide what to give them all.

W: The children first, I think. What about Anne?

M: Shes getting too grown-up for toys. We can let her choose a book.

W: Very well. Now what about Dick? He thinks about nothing but space travel nowadays.

M: Oh, that makes it easy. Shall we give him one of those space travel suits the toyshop has? You know what I mean: there is a big round plastic thing that goes over the head.

W: Thats an excellent idea. Hell he quite excited.

  M: What about your father?

W: Hes fond of music. Perhaps some records?

  (Text 9)

M: Excuse me, will you tell me where I can find the library?

W: Yes. Is it in the No. 15 Building?

M: Im afraid youll have to tell me where that is too. Im new to the university.

W: Do you mind telling me where you are from?

M: Certainly not. Im from the USA. My home is in New York.

W: Well, do you see that red brick building just past this building on your left?

  M: Yes.

W: Well, thats the Student Union Building. The library is just behind it. You had better read the instructions first so that you can borrow the books you like as quickly as possible. As you go in the main entrance, youll see the instructions.

M: Thank you very much. Youve been very helpful.

W: Im glad to have found another student from America. Good luck to you!
