當面的責備,強如背地的愛情。
10【第2句】:Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.
朋友加的傷痕,出於忠誠,仇敵連連親嘴,卻是多馀。
10【第3句】:He who is full loathes honey, but to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet.
人吃飽了,厭惡蜂房的蜜。人饑餓了,一切苦物都覺甘甜。

相近的鄰舍,強如遠方的弟兄。
10【第5句】:As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
鐵磨鐵,磨出刃來。朋友相感,也是如此。

鼎為煉銀,爐為煉金,人的稱贊也試煉人。
10【第7句】:When the hay is removed and new growth appears.
干草割去,嫩草發現,
10【第8句】:The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
惡人雖無人追趕也逃跑,義人卻膽壯像獅子。

窮人欺壓貧民,好像暴雨沖沒糧食。

行為純正的窮乏人,勝過行事乖僻的富足人。

誘惑正直人行惡道的,必掉在自己的坑里。
1【第12句】:He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
耕種自己田地的,必得飽食。追隨虛浮的,足受窮乏。

心中自是的,便是愚昧人。
1【第14句】:Whoever flatters his neighbor is spreading a net for his feet.
諂媚鄰舍的,就是設網羅絆他的腳。

褻慢人煽惑通城,智慧人止息眾怒。

放縱的兒子,使母親羞愧。

人的高傲,必使他卑下。心里謙遜的,必得尊榮。

與盜賊分贓,是恨惡自己的性命。

為非作歹的,被義人憎嫌。行事正直的,被惡人憎惡。
1【第20句】:Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer; coneys are creatures of little power, yet they make their home in the crags.
螞蟻是無力之類,卻在夏天豫備糧食。沙番是軟弱之類,卻在磐石中造房。
1【第21句】:For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife.
搖牛奶必成奶油,扭鼻子必出血。照樣,激動怒氣必起爭端。
1【第22句】:All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full.
江河都往海里流,海卻不滿。
1【第23句】:What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
已有的事,後必再有。已行的事,後必再行。日光之下并無新事。

彎曲的不能變直,缺少的不能足數。

不可將善事行在人的面前。

你施舍的時候,不可在你前面吹號。

你施舍的時候,不要叫左手知道右手所作的。

要叫你施舍的事行在暗中。

免我們的債,如同我們免了人的債。

眼睛就是身上的燈。你的眼睛若了亮,全身就光明。

一天的難處一天當。

你們不要論斷人,免得你們被論斷。

1【第80句】:Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
為甚麼看見你弟兄眼中有刺,卻不想自己眼中有梁木呢。
1【第81句】:How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
你自己眼中有梁木,怎能對你弟兄說,容我去掉你眼中的刺呢。
1【第82句】:First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
先去掉自己眼中的梁木,然後才能看得清楚,去掉你弟兄眼中的刺。

不要把圣物給狗,也不要把你們的珍珠丟在豬前。

凡祈求的就得著。

引到滅亡,那門是寬的,路是大的,進去的人也多。

1【第88句】:They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
外面披著羊皮,里面卻是殘暴的狼。
1【第89句】:By their fruit you will recognize them.
憑著他們的果子,就可以認出他們來。
1【第90句】:Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
荊棘上豈能摘葡萄呢。蒺藜里豈能摘無花果呢。

一個聰明人,把房子蓋在磐石上。
1【第92句】:A foolish man who built his house on sand.
無知的人,把房子蓋在沙土上。
1【第93句】:Let the dead bury their own dead.
任憑死人埋葬他們的死人。
